Strategic Direction 2026-2029
The Institute for Science & Policy's 2026-2029 Strategic Direction serves as a high-level guiding document to achieve the greatest impact possible.
The relationship between science and society has never been static or nonpolitical, but multiple organizations, new research, and conversations with leaders in this space are now actively naming this as a defining moment for reimagining society’s compact with science. Reimagining the relationship between science and society requires building trust and making room for diverse perspectives – work the Institute is built to do – and identifying new models for how science is communicated, integrated, and serves civil society.
This report puts much of our energy over the next three years toward that work: repairing the roots of division by building relationships and trust, fostering honest dialogue, and translating scientific information. The strategic activities outlined support this ambition, continue high-impact work, and expand on key areas important to the Institute's growth and mission.
