What if the secret to mitigating climate change is right underneath our feet? Regenerative agriculture, the “new old” practice of cultivating healthier soil, holds tremendous potential for bolstering our global food and water supplies — and every citizen can play a part. Narrated by actor and environmentalist Woody Harrelson, the acclaimed documentary Kiss the Ground “inspires a rare feeling of hope,” according to the New York Times.
To kick off our Everything on the Table series, please join us on Tuesday, September 21 at 7pm in the IMAX Theater at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science for a free public screening of this hopeful and ultimately catalyzing film. After the showing, we’ll be joined by a panel of special guests to discuss key takeaways and answer audience questions:
• Gene Kelly, Professor of Pedology, Deputy Director of the Colorado Agricultural Experiment Station at Colorado State University (CSU). He received his B.S. and M.S. degrees from Colorado State University and his Ph.D. from the University of California-Berkeley. Dr. Kelly conducts research and lectures nationally and internationally on various aspects of soils as related to global change issues.
• Roy Pfaltzgraff, who, along with his wife Barb, operates the 2000-acre dryland family farm, Pfaltzgraff Farms, LLC south of Haxtun, CO, where he was born and raised.
• Helen Silver, Principal of Silver Sustainable Strategies, LLC, where her work focuses bridging science and policy to effectuate sustainable policies and projects for natural and working lands including a key role in the passage, development and implementation of the state Voluntary Soil Health Program.
Space is limited, so be sure to reserve your spot today. All ages welcome.
